Mountain Magic
ariella, 16:43h
I am captured by the magic of the mountains. It is so incredibly blissful to walk through the valleys here and once in while climb one of the smaller peaks.... It is really uplifting.
Today we decided to leave our main luggage in Namche and go on a day trip in order to get acclimated to the high altitude. We started off in Namche and were heading for Thame, a small village about 400 meters higher than Namche. It is famous for its monestary and a few celebrities, like Tenzing Norgay, the first Sherpa on Mt. Everest (with Sir Edmund Hillary) and Apa Sherpa who has climbed Mt. Everest 16 times without oxygen supplementation and is holding the world record in climbing that mountain.
The path from Namche to Thame is just beautiful to walk. There was almost no touristic traffic, only a few Sherpas, Tibetans and yaks. After 2 hours we found out that we miscalculated the time to Thami, the round trip would have taken us at least 8 hours and that wouldnt have left any time to look around the monestary without a rush. So we turned around at noon. Instead I walked up a mountain with a fascinating scenic view of Mt. Everest and many other majesic snow covered beauties in the same neighborhood. I could also see our next destination in a distance, Tenboche Monestary, where we will be heading tomorrow.
The weather is still the best it can be. I hope that my condition stays the way it is and that my father will also be fine when we go on...
